Psychiatry

Mission Children's Hospital offers the region's only designated inpatient facility for young psychiatric patients. We offer two units, one for children ages 4 to 11 and a separate one for adolescents ages 12 to 18.  Here children and young people suffering from severe emotional disturbances or mental illness receive counseling and treatment. We offer nine  inpatient beds for adolescents and eight for children.

In our protective environment, patients receive intensive supervision, short-term help with medications, evaluation of additional medical problems, and therapy.

The focus is on short-term hospitalization with transition from our unit back to home, a residential treatment facility or other community setting for ongoing treatment.

Adolescents struggling with substance abuse can also receive therapy through Copestone outpatient services. Group therapy is also available for youth with eating disorders.
